A survey by YouGov has revealed that a majority of tenants in the PRS favour a six or twelve month tenancy. In one of the biggest surveys of its kind, 69% of tenants aged between 18 and 24 said they would prefer a tenancy agreement of a year with 61% of 25-34 year olds agreeing. Of those who wanted a break clause, six months was the most popular choice.
Other pointers show that 52% of tenants cite living close their place of work or study as an important priority, and for 30% the main reason for moving was to upgrade to larger or better property.
