There has been a surge in lettings enquiries since the Referendum from Europeans looking to work in London and keen to move to the UK before secession is complete. In the first quarter of 2016 a quarter of all applicants were from Europe but since the Referendum result this has risen to 47%. The City, Canary Wharf and East London has seen the strongest demand along with areas near European schools, such as the French Lycees. The majority of enquiries have been from professionals in the finance sector with many expressing the view that if they relocate to the UK before secession they will be able to continue working here without having any problems with work permits.
